About our Philosophy

Sound shapes mood, focus, and emotion – we experience it daily, most evidently through music: live, on the radio, in films, events, rituals, bars, shops, everywhere. In our practice, however, sound is deliberately freed from musical style, narrative, and intellectual categorization. In this way, it bypasses the analytical mind and acts directly on body and psyche, allowing awareness to shift through sensation rather than interpretation.

Sound and vibration are fundamental physical forces. They interact directly with perception and emotion. Our work is grounded in these perceptual experiences rather than in spiritual frameworks. Although our work is often categorized as sound healing, we try not to overemphasize the term healing, as our intention is not primarily to fix, but to facilitate direct, conscious experience. We invite participants to listen and sense without expectations, returning to the present moment and their own embodied perception. By becoming more attuned to their inner states, people may reconnect with their own resources and capacities  – carrying something meaningful back into everyday life.

About Vibroacoustic Research

Vibroacoustic therapy (VAT) uses low-frequency sound waves and vibrations applied directly to the body to create a multisensory experience. Developed in the 1980s, VAT combines audible sound with vibration to engage the body’s sensory systems and support states of relaxation, perceptual awareness and well being. Research on vibroacoustic stimulation suggests that it may influence nervous system activity, stress responses, and states of calm. While scientific understanding is still evolving and further researched, vibroacoustic approaches are widely often used as complementary practices in physical and emotional care contexts.

About Inner World Travels

Inner World Travels was founded by Christian Bobst, a photographer who spent many years working across many countries and cultures, offering insights to foreign worlds through his camera. With time his focus expanded towards inner world geographies. Sound instruments emerged as a new tool of inquiry, much like the camera, but with a focus on internal processes. Studying with sound-healing pioneer Dr. Peter Hess and Joel Olivé at the Soundtrance Institute in Barcelona, Christian continues to explore the potential of sound and vibration to facilitate inner journeys – with the same curiosity and passion he applies to his work in photography.

About our Soundlab and Co-Lab space

The idea for a Sound and holistic Co-Lab emerged from the former Kunstlabor of Swiss artist Heinrich Bobst. His translucent works refract light into shifting colours and forms, changing with perspective and movement – much like sound and resonance can evoke inner images and shapes behind closed eyes. In seeking a way to preserve Heinrich Bobst’s legacy after his passing, his nephew Christian Bobst reimagined the atelier and gallery as a Co-Lab for sound journeys and holistic practices. The Sound- and Co-Lab honour the former ArtLab by continuing its creative lineage through a different medium.

About the clinical use of Sound beds and Gongs

Vibroacoustic sound beds and vibration-rich instruments such as gongs have been used for several decades in psychological, music therapy and, in some cases, psychiatric contexts. Vibroacoustic sound beds and a gongs is increasingly being investigated in contexts of psychological support, self-awareness and resetting the nervous system. In clinical and counselling settings, it is being researched in connection with stress reduction, tension regulation and attention focusing, among other things. However, It should not be regarded as therapy in the medical sense, but rather as an invitation to deeper perception and inner exploration.
